Common questions

Settings says the AI is unavailable.
The structuring runs on Apple Intelligence, which needs a recent iPhone with it switched on in iOS Settings. Sometimes it is simply still downloading its model. SayItOut keeps recording and transcribing either way, and a simpler splitter puts your words on branches until the model is ready.
Where are my takes?
In the Files app, under On My iPhone, then SayItOut. Each map is a folder with its file and its recordings inside, and Settings has an Open in Files app row that takes you straight there.
The app crashed. Is my recording gone?
No. Audio is written to disk before anything else touches it, and the take exists from your first word. A crash leaves the card sitting in your takes with the recording under it. Tap it and your words become a map.
Why can I only keep one take?
The free app keeps one at a time. When you record a second one it asks whether to keep both, which unlocks Pro, or to let the new one take the slot. The take it replaces is archived rather than deleted.
I already paid, on this phone or another one.
Settings, then Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I cancel?
Apple handles the billing, so cancelling happens in iOS Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then SayItOut. Do it at least 24 hours before the period ends, otherwise the next one is already charged. Cancelling during the free week costs you nothing.
Can I back my maps up?
Turn on iCloud backup in Settings and your maps are mirrored into your own iCloud Drive. Recordings are bigger, so they have their own switch and it needs Pro. Restore missing maps pulls the lot back onto a new phone.
I do not want to talk out loud.
Type instead of talking, on the home screen. You get the same map from typed text, and the microphone is never touched.
It is transcribing the wrong language.
Settings, then Capture language. Each map keeps the language it was made with, so change it before you record the next one.
How do I delete everything?
Deleting a take takes its recordings with it, and deleting the app takes everything local. If iCloud backup was on, remove the SayItOut folder from your iCloud Drive as well.

The legal bits

The privacy policy says what does and does not leave your phone, and the terms of use cover the subscription. Both are also linked from Settings inside the app.
